When's the next run then?
Sunday June 22nd 2008
Make a note of the date in your diaries for the next opportunity to see and hear Vulcan XM655 out on the runway at Wellesbourne Mountford.
We intend to have the very popular show of classic cars and military vehicles which have drawn many favourable comments at past events.
There will also be a variety of stalls and attractions to suit all ages and hot and cold food and ice cream vans will be on site. More details will be posted on this site as they are available.
If any organisation is interested in attending, or for general enquiries please call Derek Powell on (0121) 777 3518.
If you wish to fly into Wellesbourne Mountford to see the Vulcan Taxi Runs, please contact Wellesbourne ATC well in advance by by email or by telephone on (01789) 842007.
Is it possible to see the Vulcan at other times?
Yes. The engineering team
are at Wellesbourne on most Saturdays to work on the aircraft. You are most welcome to come along;
have a look around, take pictures, take a look in the cockpit and have a chat with the guys.
All we ask is a small donation - these donations help towards the cost of restoration of the
aircraft. 655 MaPS members get in the cockpit for free of course!
How do I get there?
Wellesbourne Mountford Airfield is located near the
village of Wellesbourne, which is east of Stratford-upon-Avon, and south of Warwick. Wellesbourne is
at the B4087/B4086 junction; the B4086 runs from Stratford-upon-Avon to Wellesbourne and the
B4087 runs from junction 13 of the M40 to Wellesbourne (alternatively, take the
A429 from junction 15). Once near the village follow the signs for
the airfield initially. If coming to a taxi run, follow the signs for the industrial estate;
these will lead you down a road towards the M40 Distribution Park. Do not go in there; instead
there will be a gate onto the airfield on your right (1; you should be able to see the Vulcan clearly
by then anyway). If arriving to view the Vulcan on another day, follow the signs for the airfield and
park by the South Warwickshire Flying School
(2). There is also a small air museum (the Wellesbourne Wartime Museum (3)
at the airfield, slightly further down the road (park near the control tower and cafe area). However that the museum is open on Sundays and
bank holidays only.
